Passengers at larger airports can look forward to easier baggage checks from June 2024.
As reported by the German aviation portal Aero, the legal requirements for hand luggage controls are being adjusted. This means more travel comfort, but also more safety. The changes are made possible by new 3D scanners that enable security forces to get a better look at travelers’ luggage. From June 2024, the government assumes that passengers will be able to take up to two liters of liquid in their hand luggage through the checkpoint. So far, only 100 milliliters per container are allowed – and these must be stowed in a small, transparent plastic bag. According to the rules that are still in force, a maximum of one liter may be transported in total.
It should also no longer be necessary to unpack laptops and other electronic devices in the future. The airports will soon have to install the new technology that has already been tested in pilot projects in recent years.
