Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport recorded solid growth in 2024. A total of 66.8 million passengers traveled through the largest Lowland airport, an increase of eight percent compared to the previous year. Of this number, over 42.5 million travelers flew directly to or from Amsterdam, while 24.3 million took connecting flights.
Schiphol remains one of the busiest air transport hubs in Europe and worldwide. The airport offered connections to 301 destinations last year, including 124 intercontinental. Schiphol is particularly well positioned in Europe, where it was the best-connected airport on the continent and the fifth busiest in the world, according to the ACI Airport Industry Connectivity Report. The most frequently flown international destinations were Great Britain, Spain, Italy, the USA and Turkey.
In addition to passenger volumes, Schiphol recorded an increase in freight volumes in 2024. A total of 1.49 million tons of freight were handled, which represents an increase of eight percent compared to the previous year. However, the number of cargo flights fell slightly by two percent to 15,661.
