An Airbus A340 from the Swiss airline Edelweiss with the registration HB-JMG has to make an unplanned landing in Dubai on Monday, January 6th on the way from Zurich to Malé. The reason was the failure of one of the four engines during the flight over southeast Iraq. The aircraft, christened “Melchsee-Frutt,” lowered its cruising altitude from 35,000 to 31,000 feet after the problems occurred before landing safely at Dubai International Airport 90 minutes later.
According to the portal Aviation Herald the crew was forced to adjust the flight route to ensure the safety of passengers and crew. So far there are no reports of injuries. The affected Airbus is currently still at Dubai airport where technical inspections are being carried out.
